Blogging + Me

beauty and geek blog

It’s crazy to think that I have been blogging for over 5 years. What started out as something that I just dabbled in, has turned into a hobby that I really couldn’t be without.

Blogging has helped me in more ways than I could have ever thought. It has given me an outlet to completely be myself, although it has been a bit of a journey along the way. At the beginning, I got sucked into the trap of constantly feeling like I needed approval and only writing about things that I thought I wanted to be written. This blog started out as a beauty blog and for a good while, I never let it grow into the geeky mix that it has now become. I think I was just scared that it wouldn’t be accepted or that I would be made fun of. Then at that point I realised, I was no longer blogging for me and something needed to change. I still love makeup, of course I do, but I also love funko pops and rambly posts like this one, so I just let go and put them all together. This was the best decision, as my whole blog clicked into what it is today and I couldn’t be happier with it.

At a time when I was a bit lonely, this little outlet has always been my place to go. I started this blog up when Lewis worked most nights. I don’t have a lot of friends, so I had an awful lot of spare time. Rather than just sitting and doing nothing, I wanted to be creative and so The Mini Mermaid was born. Although it wasn’t called that all those years ago aha! I am so proud at how far this blog has come, I feel like I am finally at a place where everything is exactly how I like it. I will always be tweaking something in the background though, but that is just the way I am.

I suppose from this whole rambly post, I am just saying that I have learnt that there is not a right or wrong way when it comes to blogging. Blog for you and all of the things you enjoy. I enjoy everything that goes into this blog so much and whilst I am still enjoying it, I will still be blogging.

Here is to the next 5 years! ♥
