Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

I fell totally in love with the Naked Heat palette as soon as it came out, but it has taken me a little while to finally make the plunge. I love my original Naked palette so, so much. It is my safe palette when I am in a rush and not too sure what to do with my makeup – so pretty much everyday, when I am rushing out for work. For me, the other Naked palettes are so similar and I only really wear nudes during the week, so I haven’t felt the need to invest, until now that is. The warm tones from this one just jumped out at me. There is just something about the red, orange and bronze shades that made me feel it was a little different, whilst being similar to the other Naked palettes at the same time.

I am really on the fence when it comes to the packaging. It just isn’t as pretty as Urban Decay packaging normally is, I actually prefer the picture on the outside sleeve to the box itself. I just can’t help thinking back to the ‘Through the looking glass’ palette and feeling a little pang of sadness that this isn’t as pretty to look at. Let’s face it, every palette standard is set to that little beauty now! To hold, Naked Heat feels quite bulky. I did manage to take it on holiday and back with no breakages though, so I don’t suppose that is actually a bad thing. The sturdier the better, if it means there are no smashed little pieces.

The palette itself has a mix of finishes throughout. Most of the shades are matte with a few metallic and shimmery shades thrown in too. Naked Heat has a makeup brush encased within, I can never have enough makeup brushes so I’m definitely not complaining. Well I suppose it is technically 2 makeup brushes actually aha.

I had so much fun swatching this, the colours just work so well together…

Ounce – A bright shimmery white shade. It’s slightly too pale for me, but I will definitely use this to add a bit of highlight.

Chaser – A pale pink toned nude. This has no shimmer, but is a perfect base shade, very neutral.

Sauced – A pastel matte brick kind of shade. This has a bit of an orange tone when it is applied.

These are the lightest shades in the palette, so they are not as pigmented as the others. For me, they are all too pale to use on their own, but perfect for blending or adding highlight.

Low Blow – a matte chocolate brown shade. This applied a little patchy on me, but it evened out after a few strokes.

Lumbre – a metallic pastel coral shade. This is a lovely colour, which shimmers peachy gold in different lights.

He Devil – a matte salmon shade. I really like this colour, it has a slightly warm red feel to it.

These colours are so much more up my street. Lumber is my favourite of the three but that is because I am a sparkle queen! It is closely followed by He Devil though, I can think of a lot of uses for this colour.

Dirty Talk – A metallic copper shade. This is my type of colour, I love it. It has a slight burnt orange tint to it.

Scorched – A metallic rose gold shade. This shade is beautiful, probably my favourite of the bunch. Glimmery, pinky, glitzy goodness.

Cayenne – A very matte terracotta. This shade blends really nicely and looks slightly creamy.

I really like both metallic shades, Scorched is my favourite. It’s bold, sparkly and the pigmentation is amazing.

En Fuego – A matte plum shade. This has a bit of a berry feel to it and has slight pinky tones.

Ashes – A matte aubergine colour. This leans a bit more purple than En Fuego, but together they blend like a dream.

Ember – A metallic chocolate copper mix. I love this colour, its almost like liquid bronze. It’s hard to describe as it has a slight copper undertone to it.

These three make a lovely smokey eye. I am intrigued by Ember, it it such an unusual shade but so pretty.

As you all know, I am such a glitter lover, so you can probably guess that the shimmery shades are my favourite. I really love Scorched, I think it might actually be my favourite in the whole palette. As usual with Urban Decay, the metallic shades are very pigmented, they really can’t be faulted. The glitter is so fine they almost look like a cream when applied and aren’t scratchy at all. Some of the matte shades are a bit hit and miss, after a few swatches they blend but they need to be worked in to start with. I find this with matte eyeshadows sometimes though, I have to use a good base before they apply nicely.

I really like this palette and think it is so worth it if you like warmer shades. I know it is called Heat, but this palette is perfect for Autumn too. The shades are so wearable at this time of year!
