A Little Trip to Birmingham・AD

Birmingham street

Last weekend, me and Lewis went off on a little adventure to Birmingham. Obviously, being us we chose the best weekend to go, filled with the windiest and rainiest weather possible. Brilliant. Having the luck that I have, only I could book a trip and the weather take a dramatic turn for the worst. It wasn’t all bad though, the sun did make a little appearance in the afternoon, eventually.

As I live pretty much in between Birmingham and London, we took the trip by train as we knew we could get there in just over an hour and have plenty of time to explore. There are plenty of places to stay if you wanted to spend a few days looking around though, let’s face it, there is more than enough to do in one of the UK’s biggest cities. Birmingham Airport Hotel shows some of the best options for hotels in Birmingham too and there is definitely something for everyone.

When we got to Birmingham, as it was chucking it down, we went for a little wander around The Bullring Shopping Centre. I love shopping and for a Saturday it was surprisingly quiet which was nice. When places are super busy I end up getting Shopper Angry or ‘Shangry’ as I like to call it, especially when people start stopping in front of me. A few of the shops are the same as the ones we have where I live, but I did end up falling in love with everything in the Morphe shop. Lewis decided to wait outside and must have been out there for ages whilst I went around swatching everything. Once the rain stopped, we took a wander along the streets of Birmingham and ventured in some of the other shops. Obviously, a visit to Forbidden Planet was a must for me and I still can’t believe how quiet it was. I have only ever been to the one in London, so it was nice to be able to look at everything in its geeky glory properly.

After a little while of wandering and shopping, we decided to stop for lunch and a little cocktail or two. We found a cute little Mexican restaurant called Bodega Bar & Cantina.

The Bodega Bar & Cantina was just lovely. I love the decor, it was really bright and Mexican themed, although the restaurant was just so busy I didn’t manage to get photos. You know me and my love of skulls and they were everywhere! The food was really lovely too. My favourite was definitely the Halloumi and Pineapple Salsa, which I decided I definitely wasn’t sharing.

After lunch, we went back to The Bullring as it was raining again. Even though we were stuffed from lunch, there is ALWAYS room for pudding, so when we stumbled across the Little Dessert Shop we went right in. We tried not to be completely greedy, as we decided to share a waffle. When it came, it was that nice I could totally have eaten a whole one myself. I went for a Malteaser offering and Lewis chose a fruity combo, I think that was his attempt at being healthy for the day!

We decided to have another little wander after pudding. Trust me, my watch was on fire with all the steps I managed to do that day and I definitely walked the pudding off. On the walk, we stumbled across something which is also known as heaven…A KITTY CAFE!

You should all know about my huge love of cats by now. I blooming love them and would have a house full of them if Lewis would let me. We spotted the Kitty Cafe on our walk back to the station and I knew we needed to pop in. It wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be, which was good for us as it meant we didn’t need to wait too long.

Annoyingly, we seemed to be seated at the opposite end of the cafe to most of the cats, but it wasn’t too much of a problem as you can go for a wander once drinks are ordered. This was when I went on a little cat spree and found the cutest little bubbas.

My favourite was called Cream, in the photo above. The comfort level was 1 million percent and I feel like Cream is my spirit animal! My only problem with the cafe was that there wasn’t quite enough cats for my liking! If you are ever in Birmingham, love cats and fancy a drink, this place is definitely worth a visit.

After the kitty cafe, we decided to take the train back home and return to our actual cats, who were not jealous at all! We had such a fun time exploring Birmingham and I could definitely feel it in my legs the next day. There is so much to do there, we could totally have done with another day to explore the other parts that we missed. I will definitely be returning soon, so if you have any recommendations of places to go, let me know! ❤

I visited Birmingham recently to and passed that Kitty Cafe, I was so tempted to go in but I’d already made other plans but definitely next time I visit I’ll have to go play with the kitties. It sounds like you had a fun day out and that waffle looks sooooo good xoxo
