Before I start, I am going to admit that I got completely swept up in the hype of this printer. I first saw the HP Sprocket printer pop up in a few places just before Christmas and completely fell in love with the idea of it. Next thing I know, Christmas has come along and I have impulse ordered it using some Christmas money from Lewis. I love the idea of a polaroid picture, but not how there isn’t the option to review a photo before it is printing, so this is the perfect solution for me.
The Sprocket is a nifty little gadget which connects to your smartphone via bluetooth. Once connected, there is a nice little world of frames, text and stickers that can be added to the photo before printing using the app. As I love the look of a polaroid, I keep using this style of frame. Once you have edited the photo (or not – you don’t have to) you just press the print button and within a few seconds the photo is coming out of the bottom of the Sprocket.
As you can see the quality of the photo is not bad at all! The Sprocket uses Zinc paper, which is pretty magical. No ink is required, this clever little paper does all of the hard work. I don’t know how, I don’t even want to know. It’s like knowing how a magician does a trick, I never want to, so I am using the same concept with this.
I must admit that the photos are slightly smaller than I imagined. I don’t really know what I expected, but as the device is smaller than my iPhone they were never going to be too big were they? The photos themselves print off at 2×3 which is a perfect size for scrapbooking and I have managed to find some cute little frames that fit this size too!
The first goal in my last post was to take more photos this year and I think that this is the perfect companion. I just need to remember to order more paper!
Ooh this looks (and sounds) amazing! I'd love to get one of these… I do have a Polaroid camera but it would be nice to be able to have a look at the photo first. Is the paper for it expensive? At least you don't have to worry about the ink!

Thank you for your comment lovely. The paper is £10 for a pack of 20, but you can buy bundles on Amazon which makes it work out slightly cheaper 🙂
Ahhh this sounds amazing! I have an instax camera but really don't get enough use out of it – its bulky and the film expensive, and like you I prefer to see a photo before printing and it means trying to take nice selfys with people is such a challenge too. This sounds ideal, I'd love to have a pinboard or something just with loads of Polaroid looking photos! Xx

That is so clever that the printer doesn't use ink, I am fascinated! This looks like such a handy little thing to have, it's so nice to have physical copies of photographs, it feels like everything is online nowadays.
