It was pretty much a given that I was going to eventually buy the Urban Decay ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ Palette. There is just something about the colours, packaging and theme that is totally up my street. I kept talking myself out of buying it, but as soon as I went to Urban Decay for a makeover and this palette was used, I knew I needed to have it.
Lets just start with the packaging…Breathtaking! Urban Decay’s packaging never fails to amaze me. It is always a million steps above the rest and tends to look more like a pretty ornament than a makeup palette. The amount of creativity that goes into these, you really cannot fault. It is one of those pieces that needs to be shown off to everyone.
The palette is full of bright and colourful quotes and references to the film. The butterfly hidden behind the main doors is super pretty. I ended up being completely mesmerised with the detail on the palette for ages before I even got to the eyeshadows!
I love the design of the mirror too, its very vintage and makes me want to invest in a bigger one to put on my wall.
The selection of colours in the palette itself are just perfect. At first glance, I was unsure how wearable some of the shades could be, but once I had a play I realised how versatile they all are.
The shades of the palette are split into 5 sections to represent each character in the film and I think they are pretty much spot on.
The Alice section of the palette is made up of pretty nudes as well as a beautiful sky blue to match her dress. Metamorphosis was definitely one of the shades that sold this palette to me.
Mad Hatter is the brightest section of the palette, as you would expect the Mad Hatter to be! Paradox is definitely my stand out shade here, the copper tones are absolutely gorgeous.
Miranda is the warmest part of the palette, the gold shimmery tones are perfect and Duchess is just amazing. This section definitely makes me think of the Naked palette.
Iracebeth is the perfect mix of bright and bold. I can’t cope with Salazen Grum, that colour is just something else!
Time is the metallic section of the palette. Dream On has the loveliest subtle shimmer.
As you can see this palette really does have something for everyone. I am so, so, so in love! The amount of different combinations that can be created is just unreal. As usual with Urban Decay, the formula of each eyeshadow is absolutely spot on and I cannot fault them one bit!
Expect to see a few makeup looks using this palette over the next few weeks, I can’t seem to put it down!
This palette is absolutely gorgeous! It perfectly pairs together some brighter colours with some more neutral colours! 🙂 xxx
