NARS palais royal satin lip pencil

I have always lusted over NARS products but have never managed to actually try any. I spend hours looking at swatches, but sometimes I really think you can have too much to choose from and I have the most indecisive mind in the UK that I usually walk away without buying anything!

As you all know I am a sucker for a lip product, so when I was contacted by to show you a NARS satin lip pencil, I squealed with joy..I was just hoping that it lived up to the huge expectation that I had painted in my head!

NARS palais royal satin lip pencil* £17.50

The shade is called Palais Royal and is a deep cherry red, my perfect kind of colour! The colour itself reminds me of what Snow White’s lips would look like in real life. (Yes I live my life through Disney films!) It has a slight sheen to it, not in a glossy way, more of a moisturised look.

The pencil itself is very pigmented and you can see an instant flash of colour with only one swipe, which actually surprised me. I don’t know why, I just associated a lip pencil with a tinted balm and this definitely isn’t that! The full on colour hit is lovely. I was also surprised how well I got on with application, I am so used to a bullet that I didn’t know how this would go but it just felt like colouring lips with a big crayon haha!

The only negative is that this colour can bleed slightly and being such a strong colour it needs to be perfect. I soon remedied this with a bit of powder on my lips and a stroke of lip liner, after I applied like this it seemed to sit much better. I found the colour to last for around 3-4 hours, until it started to properly wear, this could have also been down to the amount of talking that I do at work as well though (Lipstick never seems to last on my lips there haha!).

Overall, I now think I am a slight NARS convert and can’t wait to try other satin shades! In fact I think a cheeky little NARS treat is on the cards tomorrow! I think next on my hitlist are Yu and Luxembourg.

Have you tried these pencils? What did you think?
